Anyway less of our pretty useless hosting and more about television related spiel. Many of you may have read about the tit for tat battling going on between the two major players in UK satellite and cable television. The story has already been covered on the likes of the BBC and due to us being offline its not worth me shouting about it now its old (by web standards at least). The basics are Virgin (the new incarnation of NTL:Telewest since Virgin media merged with the phone and cable provider) was renewing the deal they have to show the Sky basic package which includes Sky One, Sky Two, Sky News, Sky Sports News etc. However Virgin claim that BSKYB are demanding Virgin pay twice as much as they have done for the past 12 months.
Sky have claimed that Virgin are exaggerating the actual figure and that the package is still good value for them considering the introduction of things like Sky HD. On the face of it one would think Sky hold all the cards, but Virgin has around 3 million subscribers and losing these will hit Sky with regards to advertising (3 million people is a huge chunk to lose).
I'll keep an eye on the whole thing and hopefully do something in more detail (and up to date if the site doesn't disappear when I'm about to write an article on it!!!).
