Final Top Gear Episode By admin Published: March 5, 2007
Final Top Gear EpisodeWell last night was the last episode in the series for Top Gear, yes I'm not joking apparently the BBC think 6 episodes is enough to count as a series for one of BBC 2's most watched television shows. Apparently Top Gear will be back on our television screens this summer, but I do think that it should have a 12 episode run and not be interrupted by Snooker etc. I actually enjoy the Snooker but there is no reason they can't show Top Gear in another prime time slot rather than dropping it for the time the Snooker is on. Not that I haven't enjoyed having Top Gear back, but this series has been more about pranks, stunts and general Scrapheap Challenge type things rather than the actual bread and butter of driving/testing cars. I mean there wasn't even one mention of the new Audi A5 that is being unveiled on the 8th of March and looks stunning (just look at the picture below). Off the top of my head they only tested around 6 to 8 cars and reading Jeremy Clarkson's blog he has slagged most of them off lol. It'll be interesting to see if anything changes when Top Gear comes back to BBC 2 during the summer and if they chose to return to more cars with a few gimmicky stunts, rockets/space shuttles, limousines etc etc. Saying that the Reliant Robin space shuttle episode of Top Gear was hilarious and the Fly Drive to America episode was one of my all time favourites. Also we can keep our fingers crossed for a big race which they didn't do this series, no doubt down to lack of episodes and blowing the budget on building a road. Hopefully some things they can incorporate into the next series are stories like the new Audi A5, Fiat Grande Punto Abarth (ok a Punto isn't a super car, but the new one is saving Fiat's bacon big time), Artega GT, the 2-Eleven Lotus track car, TVR may be sold to American owners and so on.
