Not enough time in a day.

Not enough time in a day.

For a change I'm not going to apologise for my lack of cheap television blog updates and instead use it as an excuse to actually write something new on here. The TV blog has taken a slight backseat as I've been starting up a window cleaning business in South East Essex which is coming along nicely, but I have made sure that the news section has been updated frequently with new entertainment news.

Tick Tock

Window cleaning you say? Well yes, I decided that I have too much work to do as it is and thought I would add to my workload and purchase a load of window cleaning equipment! The window cleaning business is still in its early days but I'm happy with the way it is coming along and hopefully in the future will be able to expand the operation out of just Essex and maybe into London. If all goes very well I plan to include other services that compliment window cleaning. Some of my friends think it seems like a strange business to go into, but as I look out of my window here in Canary Wharf all I can see is glass buildings everywhere. No doubt I'll keep everyone updated with how the window cleaning service turns out and once I sort a website out for it too.

I've also been working too much at my bread and butter job doing revenue control for a law firm starting at 9.30am and leaving at 10pm! Horrible hours to be stuck inside an office, but it does allow for other pleasure come payday and a more substantial amount of beer can be purchased HIGH FIVE ;).

Finally work wise I've been studying for my CIMA too so as you can tell I've got a lot on, no wonder I keep forgetting things ha ha.

From all that its probably understandable that I've only been keeping on top of the cheap television news section and I apologise for not updating everyone on the best television deals around as I wanted to do more regularly. It will get better though and after Christmas things should be running a lot smoother and faster here on cheap televisions.

Its not all doom and gloom and work though, I do get a chance to relax slightly on weekdays. I know this sounds rather strange, but I get to relax on the train into work! Yup I must be the only person that thinks this. Before you think I have really lost the plot and go crazy let me explain. My journey into work takes roughly 40 minutes on the train which isn't too long as to agitate me and is long enough to demolish a good portion of a book. So yes books have become my relaxation in the workaholic life I have.

At the moment I'm reading Weathercock by Glen Duncan, I'm two thirds the way through it and have to say so far so good. Its nice to see a really well written intelligent book for a change. Obviously I haven't finished it yet so the story could descend into stupidity or something similar, but I doubt it. I've read I Lucifer by Glen Duncan which I personally didn't think is as good as Weathercock, but was still a worthwhile read, incidentally its being made into a film staring Daniel Craig and Ewan McGregor.

Other recent books I've read include:
Cocaine Nights by JG Ballard, pretty good but with a seemingly rushed and unbelievable ending.
One by Jeremy Clarkson which was rubbish just a collection of his newspaper articles, highly un-recommended! The Dice Man by Luke Rinehart which I seriously highly recommend, amazingly good and slightly crazy book that is on my favourite books ever list.
The stupidly long titled: Before They Are Hanged: Book Two Of The First Law written by Joe Abercrombie, for a fantasy book its actually pretty good although it does seem to be written more for a teenage audience than an adult one. Its the second part of a trilogy, with the third book being released in 2008. Joe Abercrombie has surprisingly not tried to write a Lord of the Rings rip off and is a nice easy read, saying that the ending is absolutely awful and makes the first two books almost pointless apart from character building. Hopefully the third book in the series in the series
Last Argument of Kings: Book Three Of The First Law will make up for this.

Maybe I spend too much time reading, but its better than looking out of the train window or reading some junk like The Sun newspaper like so many other people I see on the train to and from work doing.

Talking (or more literally typing) about books has just reminded me I have found a decent place to buy books from. Previously I used to hunt around Amazon.com for the books I wanted and would buy them from there, now Amazon has a marketplace which on the face of it makes you think you can buy the books you want for a bargain price. Well you'd actually be mistaken once you add the postage price onto them! So I went in search of somewhere cheaper than Amazon for books and I couldn't initially find anywhere! Then when searching for the Skins DVD box set I realised Play.com now sells books and Play.com also has a marketplace which I believe is called playtrade. Now playtrade is pretty much the same as Amazon's marketplace, but the price you see is the price you pay as postage is free.

Happy that I had finally found an alternative to Amazon I thought I'd give it a go to see what the service is like (no point paying half the price when you don't receive your order for a year or the goods are damaged). So I ordered 3 books for playtrade starting from the bargain price of just £3.50 and 1 book from Play.com themselves. I have to say I was very impressed, all 4 books turned up on the same day and all were in a perfect unread condition, high five!

The books I brought were:
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Anansi Boys
The Third Brother
Death of an Ordinary Man (another Glen Duncan novel)

Again depending on time I'll try to review these books once I've finished reading them.

I would say the other way I relax is to watch a bit of television, but then I realise that its just full of crap TV shows bar a few exceptions. Most notably is Top Gear which the BBC decided to replace with snooker on Sunday which was bloody infuriating at 8pm. The new series of Spooks is also pretty danm good, I haven't watched the previous series but I'm actually getting right into the MI5 spy TV show. Apart from that I can't say that I enjoying watching anything else on normal television, well not until Skins and the Sopranos return to Channel 4. I have been watching season 2 of Heroes and if you loved the first season you will not be disappointed, I don't know when season 2 will be coming to either Sci Fi or BBC 2 in the UK, but I'll try to find out.

Also to stop me going mad I'm looking at booking up my next holiday preferably somewhere nice and warm. I suppose I could go back to Malaysia where I spent most of September in Kuala Lumpur. Actually I'm very, very tempted to go back to Malaysia, friendly people, great food, lots to do and see, hot weather, cheap hotels and flights the list goes on. I think I'd go visit the islands instead of just staying in and around Kuala Lumpur if I went to Malaysia again. Oh such nice decisions for one to have! Although I might go somewhere different instead and explore another part of South East Asia like Thailand, Vietnam or Cambodia. Oh I can't decide, I want to visit them all and actually spend some time exploring and getting a real taste for the culture in each country!

So there you have it a seriously random television blog post as always. If anything its proof that even if you're a crazy workaholic that spends hours and hours working overtime, maintains a television/entertainment website and has frankly mad entrepreneurial ideas of starting a window cleaning company in Essex you can still have some time to relax! Maybe not as much as you might like, but still better than nothing. So go buy a book, go watch something decent on television and finally go book up a holiday somewhere new and exciting, it'll probably do your health the world of good too.

I need to stop randomly ranting on the television blog lol, high five.
