Shrooms Movie Review. By admin Published: December 4, 2007
Shrooms Movie Review.I love going to the cinema, I don't know why but I just enjoy it. Anyway I have unfortunately not been for a long time so was pretty pleased to venture off to my local cinema on Saturday for the first time in about a year! Yes a whole year! So after a long time I obviously wanted to see something good and for some obscure reason we decided to watch Shrooms instead of American Gangster, yes looking back now it was a bloody stupid decision. So anyway onto Shrooms itself, don't take the following as a proper review of Shrooms cause its not, more just me blabbering on in a random way more than anything warning you of how bad this film is. Also the paragraph below may contain some spoilers although after reading this hopefully you wont go and watch Shrooms and wont care that I've spoiled it for you.
The storyline for Shrooms is pretty simple, 5 Americans come over to Ireland to try magic mushrooms (hence the name Shrooms) which sounds like it could be pretty funny. The 2 boys and 3 girls arrive at the airport where they are met by an Irish bloke who one of the American girls fancies. I can't even remember there names which kind of shows how good this film was lol. Anyway basically Irish dude acts as the magic mushroom guide and takes the rest of the cast into the woods to camp and hallucinate. So pretty basic so far, the group then go out picking mushrooms in the woods and stumble upon some with black nipples on the top. Seriously I am not joking! The Irish guy says these are dangerous and what not, in the meantime the blonde girl who doesn't know they are dangerous eats one and has a fit, Irish guy to the rescue. Why did I start writing about Shrooms I don't know I'm bored of it already lol. Anywho Irish dude tells ghost story which partially becomes true apart from the twist at the end of the film which isn't very good and doesn't even make the film worth seeing! Start young people running around the woods on drugs being killed randomly by a couple of Japanese horror movie inspired figures. Apart from the American dude talking to a cow which was actually pretty funny there is nothing that makes this film even remotely memorable apart from its hilariously bad acting and plot. People were laughing in the cinema throughout at things that were meant to be scary or tense. If you do go and see Shrooms watch out for the bit where the Irish dude jumps out of a window of the hunted house, its so ridiculous its funny in a B movie kind of way. I have learnt my lesson and next time will go and watch something that's apparently meant to be good, then again I still refuse to think all independent films are bad. Shrooms though is a rubbish film. I think Jonathan Ross will sleep better knowing that my reviews are awful and his job on Film 2007 or Film 2008 (whatever its called now) is very safe lol.
