TV Finance
Was thinking today with the rush to buy presents of how many people are using finance to purchase a LCD or Plasma TV this time of year! The most obvious form of TV finance will be letting the electronics retailer sort the finance out but this can sometimes be a double edged sword as although easy many retailers take commission on the TV finance the arrange for you thus making it maybe a slightly more expensive way of financing your TV compared to the other alternatives.
Ok so TV finance deals from electronics shops can sometimes be expensive (please don't take this as gospel as there are in fact some great 0% for 6 to 12 month finance deals on some TVs by some shops). So lets take a look at your other options starting with loans to finance your new LCD or plasma TV. If you are offered a 0% deal from a retailer you may aswell go for that and skip the buying a TV with a loan bit. Loans however can be cheaper over a year than many TV finance deals just make sure you check the small print and APR. Obvious issues with financing your TV with a loan are the annoying processes from organizing them with your bank, credit checks then getting the money transfered into your account and so on.
Another option is to purchase your TV with a credit card which is in theory one of the easiest ways to finance your new TV. Be sure to check what APR your bank charges on new purchases and if possible try to find a credit card with 0% on purchases for 6 months to a year, just make sure you keep up the repayments. Biggest problem for those with not such a great credit history will be the limit on your credit card which could make it almost impossible to finance a TV with just £500 to spend! Especially if you buy all your other presents with the same credit card.
Getting TV finance is never normally too much of an issue just make sure yo shop around first to make sure your getting the best deal you can so you pay back less than you necessarily have to when finding finance for your TV.
