Take Two shares fall 16%
Shares in computer game firm Take Two, best know for its Grand Theft Auto games have fallen 16% after it announced the next version of the Grand Theft Auto franchise would be delayed.
Grand Theft Auto IV was originally meant to be released in October 2007 just ahead of the Christmas sales period which is very lucrative for computer games, but it has now been pushed back to a mid 2008 release. The news will no doubt be a serious blow to Sony's Playstation 3 as well as Microsofts Xbox 360 as both firms were hoping the next installment of Grand Theft Auto would help lift console sales (especially Sony who's console is lagging behind the field at the moment).
Mike Hickey from Janco Partners said "It's a disappointment that the game won't come out in the holiday period. It's one of the biggest games of all time, this is probably going to hurt the sell- through of the (Sony) Playstation 3 and (Microsoft's) XBox 360."
