Kate Nash calls The X-Factor junk food
20 year old Kate Nash who recently released Foundations (cool song in my opinion) has criticised the X-Factor and the motives behind contestants entering the ITV television singing contest.
She's got a point too because why would you enter a competition where you'll be told what you can and can't sing, doing cover versions of old so called classic instead of being an artist and creating something original that you want to share with the world?
Kate Nash told the Mirror "To me, The X Factor is like junk food. No one who goes on that show wants to be a musician, no one is an actual artist. People go on because they want to be famous, they're not thinking: 'I want to go into the studio and record my own songs that I've written.' They want to be told how to sing, how to dance, how to look, what to record and what to say. It's scary that kids these days want to be famous and lead that disgusting celebrity lifestyle that goes with it."
For us the X-Factor isn't actually about about music or fame, its about seeing those slightly vulnerable (normally slightly delusional people) being ripped apart for the pleasure of the television audience and to line the pockets of Simon Cowell (pretty sickening world we live in really).
