Life on Mars actors decline US remake. The actors who play the two main characters in the hit television series Life on Mars, John Simm and Philip Glenister have declined the offer of staring in the American remake of the show.
David E Kelly is planning the American version of Life on Mars (he was the creator of Ally McBeal if the name sounds unfamiliar) and he bizarrely wanted the original actors to play the leading roles with American accents! The idea of remaking something that isn't even that old and making English actors put on American accents is pretty absurd, then again I suppose its the American market where everything is rubbish unless the focus is an American. Thank god J.K. Rowling insisted on an English Harry Potter.
John Simm seems to agree saying "They wanted us to have US accents. But I don’t know why they have to remake everything. Anyway, they have already got their own version of our show Starsky & Hutch."
