Asda also want UK Sony Playstation 3 price cut By admin Published: August 10, 2007
Asda also want UK Sony Playstation 3 price cut Well it's not just me blabbering on about UK consumers getting a bad deal when it comes to the UK Sony Playstation 3 prices in comparison to Japan and America as today Asda have called for a PS3 price cut here in the UK.
Duncan Cross from Asda has been doing his bit to help (and get Asda some free press) encourage Sony to finally drop the price of the Playstation 3 here in the UK. For those of you who are blissfully unaware consumers in Japan and America pay around £150.00 less than us for the Playstation 3 console, a hot deal for them and a crap one for us.
Duncan Cross to MCV “I think for us and for Asda’s customers there’s no doubt that we’d like to have seen some price movement on PS3. The US have got a cut and we’ve got the games bundle but it’s just not the same. I think the console needs an extra something to really get it up to full speed."

Price is obviously a big factor when it come to the console market and although we pay more for the Xbox 360 than many other countries (we'll continue to moan about this too) its still cheap than the Playstation 3, then you have the highly successful Nintendo Wii which is at a very attractive price point for parents to buy for there kids and us not so grown ups alike.
Jane Cavanagh of SCi also eccohed these views saying "We’re absolutely of the view that Sony will succeed, without question, it’s just a case of the timing. From our point of view, the acceleration of that installed base could be driven by further price cuts. The hardware is pretty expensive. As soon as we start to see cuts coming in, we’ll be more comfortable with the performance of PS3. The fact that the month after the US announced a price cut there was a doubling of hardware sales speaks volumes – and is incredibly encouraging. If we could have a similar price drop to the US, that would be a very positive first step.”
Fingures crossed people........................ actually don't bother this is Sony after all and we are in the UK we're used to getting ripped off lol
