Aqua Dots Recall

In the USA there has been a rather shocking piece of news about the Aqua Dots recall, it appears that 4.2 million (yes that many) of the Aqua Dots kits have been recalled due to the beads containing a chemical similar to a 'date rape' drug! I seriously had to go and make sure it wasn't April when I heard about this Aqua Dots recall. No doubt this is another blow for toy manufacturers in the run up to Christmas and could potentially lead to greater sales in video games, DVD's and television related products after the recall of many cheap substandard Chinese toys entering the toy market.

Before the recall Aqua Dots craft kits were in Wal-Mart's top 12 selling Christmas toys and obviously a popular present considering 4.2 million kits have been recalled. According to the reports we've read if the beads in the Aqua Dots craft kits are swallowed they can cause unconsciousness, respiratory problems and seizures! Rather a dangerous thing to be giving a child, no doubt parents will be thinking more of there children's safety this Christmas after this rather shocking development!

A toy expert Chris Byrne told Reuters "It will certainly have an emotional impact for parents who have felt they were secure with the toys they were buying, but I really don't think it will have a broader impact,"

He may be more of an expert than me but I still think the Aqua Dots recall will have an effect on consumer habits like I said earlier with more parents opting for safer products like DVD's for there children this Christmas.
