Michael Parkinson claims no real chat shows left!
The old hand at TV chat shows Michael Parkinson has claimed that no true chats shows are on our television screens now he has hung up his coat and retired. And Michael Parkinson has a very good point if you ask me as all other chat shows on television are not about conversation but are more a comedic exchange of witty banter (normally making the host look funny) like Graham Norton and Jonathan Ross. He also has managed to show he is more clever than television bosses at ITV by saying they are trying to chase an audience that doesn't exist by making shows for 16 to 34 year olds who are normally out on Saturday nights.
Michael Parkinson said to the Mirror "This is the end of polite conversation. No one else does what I do. It's gone forever. Jonathan and Graham, they have their place... but don't tell me that it's a talk show. It's not, it's a comedy show. Jonathan is a witty, funny, loveable character and I can see why they pay him so much. But none of them would claim to do what I do, and I wouldn't claim to do what they do. ITV will put comedy shows in my slot, but they are chasing a mythical audience. I don't think there are too many 16 to 34-year-olds watching television on Saturday night, they are out having a good time."
Pretty impressive that Michael Parkinson seems to have his finger on the pulse of TV audiences more than the awful ITV bosses. Maybe they should give him a new job as director of the troubled broadcaster and could bring ITV back to being a great television channel. I highly doubt it though lol. On and if anyone from ITV maybe reading this post, please please please get rid of the bloody news in the middle of the movies you show, its f**king annoying to say the least and we'll all evidently just change channel to one of the many others now on offer!
