This week Sky TV sent me through an offer of returning to their satellite television subscription service half price for a year. The deal from Sky also includes the sports and movie channels! I left Sky several months ago and blogged about why I was leaving on this here cheap television blog.

During August we are going to be making several changes to the cheap televisions website to hopefully give it a new lease of life. Firstly we will be moving hosts from the totally unreliable American servers cheap television is currently hosted on to a UK hosting provider that we’ve found to be very reliable for our other websites. Cheap televisions has got pretty big over time so it’s not going to be such an easy job moving so much data.
Secondly, after the move, we will be revamping the look of the site as it has got a bit boring over the years. The layout isn’t as good as it could be either and with all the new types of TV technology flooding the market the plasma and LCD TV sections that the site is based on really need to be expanded. So the idea is cheap televisions will be able to expand with the increasing technologies like 3d TV and LED televisions.
It seems the television manufacturers managed to do some very clever and confusing marketing to get the majority of the UK population to go out and buy HD plasma and LCD TVs (even though the majority still don’t receive a HD signal). So we at cheap televisions would like to know what those that can watch the BBC HD channel think of it.

I saw an interesting article this week which said the internet had now overtaken the television as the main way we entertain ourselves in our spare time. This has been on the cards for a long time now so comes as no big surprise that the majority of us are looking at computer screens rather than TV screens.

It’s been a bit too easy for me to sit down on the sofa with the best intentions of writing articles and television blog posts only to mindlessly watch rubbish I don’t even like on the plasma TV.

I obviously like television hence having cheap television blog dedicated to it but my other passion is taking pictures hence also running a photography blog. Last night I got a combination of both of my favourite things on the iPlayer (as I missed it first time around) with the TV programme called “Shooting the Hollywood Stars”. It followed the famous photographer Rankin around as he tried to create some of the iconic photographs from Hollywood and although it wasn’t the best programme / documentary ever it was good to see photography getting a prime time slot on BB2 on a Saturday evening.
