With increasing commitments to personal lives it is becoming harder for us to maintain the cheap television blog to the extent that we really want to. So we had a chat and thought the site would be perfect as an advertising platform for a retailer specialising in cheap electronic goods, obviously TVs, but also related good like Blu-Ray DVD players and home entertainment surround sound systems. Alternatively someone like Tesco might finally want to step up and take the online cheap television fight to the likes of Amazon and use the site as a digital outlet.

Any thoughts are welcome. We have been running cheap televisions for years now, hunting for all those bargain deals, TV offers, the odd LCD review, etc and it has served us well and taught us a lot but maybe now is the time to part company. Hopefully to a company that can really take it forwards in the way we would have liked to but just don’t have the money to invest ourselves. Any interest in buying or investing in cheap televisions should be directed to leewelton @ msn.com (minus the spaces).

The cheap television team…

Cheap Televisions Christmas Push

Cheap TV Blog

blog

cheap

television
<guid

The good news is Tesco have decided to include several Technika LCD televisions in this new promotion, we at Cheap Televisions like to find the best television deals so here is the largest Technika LCD television included in the promotion, the Technika 32-56 32 inch LCD HD Ready TV.

The Technika 32-56 32″ television has been reduced from £199.99 to £179.10 by Tesco. It is HD Ready 720p rather than 1080p but at the 32″ size the difference in picture quality isn’t going to be terribly noticeable like on a large 50″ plasma TV for example.

Connectivity wise the Technika 32-56 LCD TV has the expected slots to plug in a range of home entertainment equipment, including 3 HDMI sockets, a single SCART socket and a USB port. So it could easily accommodate a HD games console, Sky HD box, Blu-Ray DVD player and a surround sound system for example.

Even before Tesco launched the price drop deal on televisions the Technika 32-56 32″ LCD TV was one of their best selling cheap LCD televisions.

The Technika 32-56 LCD television currently boasts 236 customer reviews on the Tesco website with an average score of 9 out of 10 which is rather spectacular for what is a very cheap TV. Below is what one of the reviews says, however if you want to give us your own personal experience of owning a Technika 32-56 LCD TV or want to tell us your personal customer service experience when buying a television from Tesco please use the comment box below.

Technika 32-56 Reviews:

Plus Points: Good picture and sound. Proper mains off switch. Price. It’s from Tesco so no grief if it goes wrong. 18 month warranty
Bad Points: Remote control poor, on my second and this has problems
very slow to respond, but quicker with universal remote. The Technika 32-56 TV stand is very small.

TV Show Suits Coming To The UK

TV entertainment news

Dave

Suits

TV Show
<guid

What is a little odd is the channel that has picked up the television show is Dave! A channel specifically aimed at men aged between 18 to 40, not that the cheap television motley crew are complaining, we just think Suits appeals to both men and women and would have suited a television channel with a broader gender base than Dave.

Suits TV Show on Dave

Season 1 of Suits is apparently due to be broadcast on Dave early in 2012. So for those of us in the UK that have already enjoyed the first season and want to see what happens after the cliff-hanger at the end of Suits season 1 will have to wait until around early 2013 to watch season 2 legitimately! Season 2 of Suits is (if our cheap television sources are correct) going to be broadcast in the USA during summer 2012.

Hopefully Suits gets the attention the TV show deservers on Dave and they jump the broadcasting of season 2 in the UK forwards to be a few days after America. Sky do this with TV shows Fringe, Terra Nova etc and did the same with Lost so no reason Dave couldn’t do it with Suits. For anyone that hasn’t seen Suits I won’t give away any spoilers here, but the best way I’ve heard it described is a legal comedy drama that’s as realistic as CSI.

Toshiba 40BV701B 40 inch HD LCD Television

LCD tvs

40 Inch

40BV701B

Best Buy

cheap

HD

lcd

television

Toshiba
<guid

The Toshiba 40BV701B LCD television is not a lot of money for a 40″ screen, from a well known and respected brand, is capable of full HD 1080p output and has 4 very useful HDMI inputs. It seems the has everything Toshiba 40BV701B has almost everything that our the cheap televisions bargain hunters look for in a LCD TV.
<div

Of the reviews on the Best Buy website the average reviewer has given it a very good score of 9 out of 10 with the plus points being the cheap price and pictures quality. The negative comments about the Toshiba 40BV701B seem to generally revolve around the sound quality being poor. A full HD LCD TV for this price you can’t complain too much about the sound and a external home cinema surround sound system would no doubt make this a non issue to most people.

In the past after digging through most of the rubbish on these voucher and discount code site we would be able to find at least one of two cheap TV deals to tell you about. Recently however it seems all of the codes that would give you 2%, 5% or even a rather nice 10% off or a £100 or £200 discount have vanished from existence. Rather than helping anyone get a television for less these discount and voucher code sites now seem to be adorned with nothing but links to the main online shop websites that unhelpfully sticks a cookie in your browser.

This little cookie isn’t something edible but essentially means that if you purchase something from the online shop they link you to, they receive a slice of commission. That would normally be fine, but as we’ve already mentioned literally none of them currently have (and haven’t had for a while) discount codes for cheap televisions! It’s like a wasteland for discounts visual electronic consumers at the moment.

We will keep searching this void like space for voucher codes and discount code to use to help you buy a cheap TV and we will only bring you those that actually work. We meticulously test any we find, wouldn’t it be good if the government and financial institutions were more like the cheap television blogging team, before spending our time publishing them.

So here is a call to the marketing departments of the worlds online television retailers. If you have voucher or discount codes that you would like to offer to hard working consumers to help them get a cheaper new television then get in contact. We will happily publish them on cheap televisions providing they are decent deals and no third party is taking a commission from them. id="more-1270">The Samsung 6 Series televisions of which the UE32D6530 32 Inch LCD TV is one are some of the more affordable of Samsung’s LCD television screens which offer 3D. The UE32D6530 is priced at around £750 which plants it nicely between the more costly Panasonic TX-L32DT30 3D television and the usual cheaper TV screen suspects.

The Samsung UE32D6530 32 Inch 3D LCD TV is a active-shutter type 3D TV screen which means you will have to go out an purchase some of Samsung’s 3D glasses which cost from £50! Yes 3D glasses do get a bit pricey if you have a bigger family. The disigners of the Samsung UE32D6530 clearly believe more is good and bigger is better and the TV set comes with a heroic wealth of features including Samsung’s Smart Hub, BBC iPlayer, LoveFilm’s movie streaming, apps for social media like YouTube and Facebook and an ever useful internet browser.

The Samsung UE32D6530 32 Inch LCD 3D TV itself is so thin it will make any anorexic jealous you really have to see one close up to appreciate how ridiculously slim it is. Technology is always pushing things forwards but the cheap television blogging team can’t really see how televisions can get much thinner than this Samsung, it already appear to be thinner than should be possible. Even so the Samsung UE32D6530 still includes four ever useful HDMI inputs, two USB sockets, a hardly ever used digital audio optical output and the usual array of legacy terminals to plug a plethora of old electronic devices in. None of which harm the aesthetics of this very cool looking television set at all.

The Samsung UE32D6530 inbuilt Freeview HD tuner is simply excellent and something that really makes this 3d LCD television stand out from the rest of the competition at thi price point. The edges are razor sharp and the colour reproduction is fantastically. Almost everything about the picture quality is spot on from excellent colours, realistic skin tones, smooth motion with little or no blur and an amazing sense of depth. The only niggle that slightly lets the Samsung UE32D6530 down where picture quality is concerned is a tiny hint of a blue tinge to the very deepest of blacks (will the now defunct Pioneer Kuro ever be bettered?).

Sound wise the Samsung UE32D6530 32 Inch 3D TV is a little on the lightweight side, although this is to be expected due to the ridiculously slim profile of the television. Most people now own stand alone home cinema speaker systems that can pump the deepest of sounds into neighbours homes so I doubt this would really put anyone off buying this televisions.

It seems the only real issue that stands out a little bit with the Samsung UE32D6530 32 Inch LCD TV is the 3D picture quality. Compared to the best 3D televisions currently on the ever growing market is doesn’t provide the depth and involvement of the very best. Sometimes there can also be the odd picture instability, however this is no different to most of it’s direct competitors.

What HiFi give the Samsung UE32D6530 32 Inch LCD 3D television 5 out of 5 stars and it is their recommended television in the 32 inch category. On their website they enthusiastically say: “A near-faultless marriage of form and function – and it’s a steal at the price”

On Amazon where the Samsung UE32D6530 can be picked up for £599 it has a review score of 4.5 stars out of 5 from 9 reviews which is a very good score. One of the very positive reviews says: ” I bought this Samsung model after the reviews on Amazon and other reviews such as What HiFi. Contrary to many reviews I am extremely pleased with Smart functionality especially the ease with which it linked to my home network QNAP NAS where I store all our music and video”.

If you happen to own a Samsung UE32D6530 32 Inch LCD 3D TV please tell us, the cheap televisions blogging team, what you think of it.

Toyota Yaris Gadget Guy TV Advert

TV Commercials

Advert

Aygo

Commercial

Gadget Guy

Toyota

tv
<guid

Toyota, a company with a massive big fat Gypsy wedding dress of a television marketing budget seems to have been misguided or just plain stupid with their new rap inspired Gadget Guy television adverts for the little Yaris.

Watching the current swathe of television commercials for the premium German brands BMW, Mercades and Audi they enhance the ideals the viewer has of the brands. Quality, performance, new technology and style with such ease. Using all that is good with visual and audio stimulation.

Even the none premium car brands that Toyota are competing with are producing television commercials that really sell their products in what is undeniably a difficult and strained market right now. The Renault TV commercial with clips from old movies just oozes style. VW carries on a long tradition of simple, informative and clever advertising to push the message of build quality and reliability. Ford showers us with new technology and performance. All of the above use stylish imagery and excellent music both of which have become the staple of purposeful and solid television commercial in recent times. All the advertising agencies involved in the above adverts should be commended. The same can’t be said for the advertising agency and Toyota advertising executives that signed off the money for the Toyota Yaris Gadget Guy adverts.

The selling points that I believe Toyota as a brand has built up over the years are build quality and reliability. Considering they are the biggest car manufacture in the world these two main selling points haven’t done them bad so far. So why not stick with what works?

Obviously the idea behind the Toyota Yaris Gadget Guy TV commercial is to help encourage the Toyota brand appeal to a younger audience, however I fear it has failed completely. The advertising agency involved seem to have deduced that young people (around 5 years old) like cartoons and that young people (around 14 years old) like rap music. Combining the two and throwing in a puppet for good measure results in the perfect advert for selling cars to 10 year olds! All the advert does is show the car can connect to an iPhone, wow!

The average 17 to 25 year old is going to hate the music and the cheesiness and the image the car is selling. Why would anyone in this age bracket want a Toyota Yaris when the competition (without even trying) look so much more fashionable by virtue of Toyota producing such a counter productive television commercial. I would think and hope that young people buying their first brand new car are wanting to aspire upwards and not downwards and for me that is what the Toyota Yaris Gadget guy tv commercial is essentially doing. The car in front is a Toyota, the driver in front is a unstylish tracksuit wearing chav (which they won’t actually be as we all know they buy Saxo’s).

I could go on and on like a doomed blue bottle trying to escape a closed window about how rubbish the Gadget Guy advert for the Toyota Yaris is, but you are most likely as bored as a discarded DFS sofa on a roundabout. So rather than moaning here is what I think Toyota and the advertising agency that probably pocketed tens of thousands of shiny pounds for their lame efforts should have done. Feel free to agree, disagree or offer up ideas to the unseen eyes of the world wide web in the cheap television comments below if you so wish.

Firstly I would have thought after all the issues Toyota had with the brakes on several of their cars any advertising they paid for would be to help rebuild the reputation of Toyota cars being extremely well built and reliable. Not the biggest selling point for younger consumers I know, but even for them and more importantly for the brand pushing this plus point is never a bad thing.

Secondly the Yaris is a cheap car to own and run, but again there is no mention or hint of any of this. Particularly for young people buying their first car the cost of tax and petrol is as important as spending 2 hours in the bathroom before leaving the house. Also car insurance in the UK has reached Silvio Berlusconi levels of ridiculousness in the past year. The cost can sway people into buying a car that won’t cost the Earth, the Moon and even Mars to insure! Both of these marketing points aren’t going to push a cool imagery on younger folk, but are underlying tones that really should be present. Unlike the annoying Gadget Guy television commercial they also would not put people off the Toyota Yaris.

Finally the main point, making the Toyota seem cool and desirable to the younger generation. Something Toyota and the advertising agency involved have so epically failed to achieve with the Gadget Guy TV commercial. What I believe they should have been trying to do is appeal to those inspirational ideas that so many young people have. Yes it’s a small car, but it’s cool and those who own one are on the first step of the ladder to owning something slightly flashier in the future. The Mini before they also started to devalue their brand by releasing variations of the Mini as ugly as my granddads nut sack and unnecessary as bacon flavoured ice-cream (think the Mini Coupe and Countryman).

So they should be making the Yaris appealing by making it look social, youngsters want to impress their friends so show it in a myriad of young well dressed people. Hell, stick them somewhere that young people want to go. Show those youngsters that are dreaming of going on a road trip with mates that the Toyota Aygo is a cool car to do it in. Show them this is what you could be doing if you buy one, these are the adventures you can have, the world is yours, go explore! Throw in a little of how well it drives and the technology (something the Gadget Guy commercial does show, albeit badly) and the features of the product. These are all simple well tested ideas that just work well. Being clever has just given us another crap television commercial and myself some stiff fingers, there are several other ways I’d rather be making my fingers stiff!

I have rabbited on for far too long about this annoying, badly considered and ill thought-out TV commercial. Even Kia car TV commercials are much better and more stylish. Hopefully the next time Toyota are about to sign off on a TV commercial they come and consult with me first, or even better commission me to come up with the ideas. And no I don’t know who sings the stupid song on the even more stupid Toyota Yaris TV commercial.
