Bush A642F Cheap 42 Inch LCD TV?

Just looking around the Argos website and they are advertising this Bush A642F 42 inch LCD television in their TV deals of the week! But is it really a good deal or even a cheap lcd tv? Argos sell this for £469.99 (ignore was prices regardless of where you buy your television from) which to me doesn’t seem very cheap for a low budget branded LCD when you could get well reviewed and better branded TVs from LG like the 42LF2500 cheap lcd tv and the LG 42PQ2000 plasma television for under £500 from Argos!

Bush A642F Cheap 42 Inch LCD TV

Ok so the Bush A642F is £30 cheaper but come on you are going to use your TV screen quite a lot so that extra £30 really isn’t going to be wasted. Seems strange that Argos is promoting the Bush television over the LG ones but they probably get a better mark up on the A642F. If it was my choice I would got for the LG 42PQ2000 plasma television out of the 3. But as you maybe able to tell I’m a bit of a plasma television fan. The 42PQ2000 has got a pretty solid 5 out of 5 stars from the customer reviews on Argos. If you must have a cheap LCD TV then spend your money on the LG 42LF2500 LCD TV instead of the Bush A642F, the £30 extra is worth it just in aesthetics without even getting into picture quality. Again like it plasma brother the LG 42LF2500 42 inch LCD television has got very good reviews from Argos customers.

The plasma TV category has been suffering a little bit on cheap televisions recently mainly down to the massive offensive from LCD TV manufacturers at the moment. So to equalize the balance back a little bit here is the best selling plasma television over at amazon.co.uk at the moment. The Panasonic TX-P42G10B. I’m going to try and find some stores that are either doing special deals on or offering this television much cheaper than amazon (£711.00 with free shipping).

The Panasonic TX-P42G10B is a 42 inch full HD (1080p) plasma television and a 10th generation screen. It has brilliant reviews from television magazines like whathifi as well as user reviews on amazon (23 out of 27 reviews giving it 5 out of 5 stars). As well as brilliant picture quality it is very well built and cheap televisions thinks it will make most LCD TVs look rubbish in comparison.

Dixons are currently advertising the Panasonic Viera TXP42X10B 42 Inch plasma television in their cheap television deals section of their website. It doesn’t actually say what is so special about the deal and you could probably find this same Panasonic 42 plasma television cheaper elsewhere but if we’re honest Dixons are a convenient option for many of us interested in buying consumer electricals and especially home entertainment equipment.

Panasonic Viera TXP42X10B 42 Inch Plasma Cheap Television Deal

The Panasonic TXP42X10B comes in at £523.99 at Dixons and is a HD Ready 42 inch plasma television featuring all the usual bits and bobs like 3 HDMI connectors. 2 SCART 1 PC and so on. Contrast ratios are pretty much regarded as rubbish marketing now so I wont bore you with any of those details, your just better off going to the shop yourself and see what you think of the picture.

The “blurb” on Dixons website says “The Panasonic VIERA TXP42X10B 42″ HD Ready Plasma TV incorporates a range of fantastic technologies to deliver superb quality images and advanced networking capabilities. Take what you want from that however over at Amazon where the same plasma television sells for £579.91 it has 7 customer reviews all giving it 5 stars! I’ve plucked 2 reviews from Amazon’s customers to give you a better feel as to if the Panasonic TXP42Z10B is worth your hard earned money or not.

Panasonic Plasma TXP42Z10B review 1 from Toby: “I bought one of these after having a Panasonic px80 for a short period. These unit need proper bedding in for the first few hundred hours display (or much shorter if you use a utility like jscreenfix). The display does improve further after this bedding in period.

To keep this short, the display is excellent, both SD and HD despite this only being a HD ready resolution. Blacks are deep and detail is fabulously clear, Regarding size: You need at least a 12 *12 room for these 42″ screens not to be somewhat overpowering. I would suggest that for smaller rooms the 37″ model would give a better experience.

The only downsides i see are : Over scaling if turned off shows that these units need better screen alignment from the factory. 3 out of 4 units I have viewed had relatively minor but irritating screen alignment issues which cannot be adjusted without accessing the engineers service menu (which could invalidate your warranty).

The on-board tuner appears to be poorer quality than the older px8 models. Other than that, the quality is utterly superb as long as you have good quality input. Sky gives mainly superb pictures from SD channels. VM’s cable is far more varied.”

Panasonic Plasma TXP42Z10B review 2 from Freewheeler: “My wife and I are both very pleased with this TV, which was a replacement for a Panasonic 28″ CRT which had developed a slight picture defect after 11 years of excellent service (so no complaints there eh?)

But this Plasma TV is excellent value, both picture and sound are superb. We also did a DIY Freesat installation and the HD channels on Freesat are very sharp, every bit as good as we expected. The design is a bit retro, but I find the high gloss black surround and stand aesthetically pleasant to look at.”

Amazon has been pimping all the new ranges of both plasma and LCD televisions that have become available recently for sizes 19”, 22”, 26”, 32”, 37”, 40”, 42”, 46”, 47”, 50” (yes “ means inches). There are an awful lot of them so I’ve decided just to let you know what the new 42 inch TV models are, some of these are very affordable cheap televisions too. Odd thing is LG has 4 new televisions in this size range alone! Two Plasma TVs and two LCD televisions.

Thought it would be a good time for cheap televisions to look at the best selling plasma TVs from Amazon in the UK at the moment. Please note the top 20 is made up from Amazons statistics so will not represent the whole market, you will also probably find these plasma televisions much cheaper on other online or high street stores. The top 20 plasma televisions does show a good trend for 42 inch televisions being the best selling and 50 inch plasma TVs becoming more popular with consumers. It also looks like people do believe that the quality of Panasonic is worth paying the extra money than the great affordable deals you can get on LG plasma televisions (this is more likely to do with warranty concerns than picture quality, the new LG has impressed me). All of these plasma televisions come with Freeview which is now becoming just another standard feature with all new televisions. The average price point is around £600 for a new plasma television which is great considering the quality, features and sizes of these flat panel TVs. One thing that seems to be even Stevens is if people choose to go with HD Ready or Full 1080p high Definition when buying. Don’t forget you can get much better deals on these plasma televisions than the prices quoted in this cheap televisions post.
