Cheap Sony Bravia Television

The cheapest of the bunch is rather obviously the 26″ Sony TV. Coming in at a reasonable £299.99. The exact model is Sony Bravia KDL26S5500 26-inch Widescreen HD Ready LCD TV with Freeview! The Amazon user reviews give it 4 out of 5 stars based on 42 reviews which is a pretty good score.

Next up is the Sony Bravia KDL32W5500U 32-inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p LCD TV with Freeview, 100Hz Motionflow and 3-Year Warranty. Obviously this is a big step up from the cheaper and smaller Sony Bravia KDL26S5500 TV and costs £499.99 in the Amazon special offer. It is a more substantial television though being full HD, 100MHZ and that added security of the 3 year warranty make this deal look very good. Amazon reviews give the Sony Bravia KDL32W5500U 4.5 stars out of 5 from 87 reviews which is exceptional.

Last but not least in the Amazon offer is the Sony Bravia KDL40W5500U 40-inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p LCD TV with Freeview, 100Hz Motionflow and 3-Year Warranty for £679.99. Again all the benefits that the Bravia KDL32W5500U has but the big advantage of being a good size. Again has 4.5 out of 5 in the user reviews but this time from 159 reviewers.
All of these look like very good Sony Bravia televisions. I know Amazon call them offers but I’m pretty sure you could find these cheaper elsewhere although buying from company with a good reputation like Amazon is sometimes worth the slight extra premium when purchasing the larger two screens they have in this deal.

Sony Bravia KDL-40W5500 LCD TV Deal

The marketing spiel about the Sony Bravia KDL-40W5500 full HD 40 inch LCD television says “The Bravia W5500 has all the Sony technology you need to experience a new level of entertainment. Bravia Engine 3 digital processing delivers a depth, richness and clarity that will take your breath away. Motionflow 100Hz technology keeps fast-moving sports and action crisp and clear.”

Although this is their television deal of the week the Sony Bravia KDL-40W5500 LCD TV looks good in the reviews too. Customers from play.com have given it an average of 5 out of 5 stars with one of them saying “Just upgraded from one of the first Samsung 40 inch lcd 1080p televisions to hit the market and I certainly made the right choice. This TV is superb. Upscaled dvd’s and blu ray are stunning. Freeview provides a very solid picture and the menu system is very good.”

The review from What HiFi wasn’t as generous giving it 4 out of 5 stars and although they were impressed with this LCD TV they complained about the irregular backlighting which is why they didn’t give it the full 5 stars in their review: “That’s where the Sony’s fifth star has gone. We don’t think our KDL-40W5500 is faulty, we just don’t think the backlighting is good enough.”

The KDL-40W5500 Sony Bravia LCD TV doesn’t come with built in Freesat like some of the newer models but you can get up to £150 of you money back in the Sony Trade-In offer.

Sony Bravia KDL-40Z5800 LCD TV

One thing worth mentioning is TechRadar did say “you’d probably be better going for one of Panasonic’s plasma-based Freesat TVs instead” now I am a big fan of plasma televisions so I could twist this lol, but they are referring to the wide viewing angles. No LCD or LED TV copes well when your not looking directly at them. Would be nice to know if OLED technology would solve the problem too! If that doesn’t bother you and your still not convinced about going plasma and have the finance to afford it then the Sony Bravia KDL-40X5800 LCD TV is probably the television for you. The built-in FreeSat is another good thing to have (and Sony are still installing this for free at the moment).

The TechRadar Verdict said “Despite carrying a slightly high price tag that inevitably forces us to look more keenly at its failings, the 40Z5500 remains overall a really terrific TV thanks to the way it combines the clutter-busting appeal of the built-in Freesat tuner with a totally uncompromising stack of picture processing which results in some of the very finest picture quality yet seen from an LCD TV.”.

One thing to keep in mind about the Currys special offers and Currys in general is that although they are the online company of Dixons sometime their prices vary dramatically. For example Currys are advertising the LG 32LH3000 32 inch LCD TV for what they say is a good deal at £399.00 but if you search on google for that television model you get results from Dixons selling it £30 cheaper! The you obviously have the competition to consider too.

If your in the market to buy a new Sony Bravia LCD TV I hope cheap televisions maay have just saved you some money . Although do shop around first, you may be able to sell your old TV, find the Sony Bravia LCD TV you want cheaper (independent, online shops etc) and save even more.

Not sure what is going on with the pictures on the cheap TVs website but for some reason they’re going over onto the side bar aaarrrgggghhhhh lol. So from now on all pictures will be 450 pixels wide, I think it should help cheap TV’s look a bit smarter .

Sony Bravia LCD TVs

Mainly putting this post on the Cheap TVs blog to see is the picture of the Sony Bravia LCD TV looks better in the smaller size. Not sure that will help with their apparent backlighting issues though!

Ah it looks much better with the slightly smaller picture . Really do like the picture of the Sony Bravia LCD TV in that lounge too, wish my living room looked that nice!

The Bravia X4500 television series will become Sony’s flagship range of LCD TVs when it is released around October in the UK (just in time for the Christmas sale season). It will no doubt be expensive but cheap televisions hasn’t managed to get a firm answer on the retail price yet. The X4500 will feature 4x HDMI connectors but more interestingly DRC 3.0 which upscales non HD images to Full HD! Should be interesting to see if it is any good as Full HD televisions tend to display non HD footage rather badly!

Sony really are singing and dancing about the X4500 Bravia LCD televisions saying amongst other thins “A true cinematic experience in your own home demands rich colours and true, deep blacks. For the first time ever, 46-inch and 55-inch X4500 series models feature an energy-efficient RGB Dynamic LED backlight that momentarily dims in dark areas of the picture, reducing light leakage for enhanced contrast and deeper blacks. Clusters of red, green and blue LEDs provide a wider palette of colours than conventional white LED backlights. The result is stunning reproduction of Blu-ray Disc, DVD and TV broadcast sources, just as the director intended. ”

Expect the W4500 Sony Bravia LCD televisions to be a slightly less well equipped version of the X4500 and is expected to be in the shops around September.

George Damigos (a marketing bod for Sony Europe) said in the press release for the X4500 and W4500 Bravia televisions “The unique blend of advanced technology and leading design of both the BRAVIA X4500 and slim speaker systems, mean that consumers can now view crystal-clear images with atmospheric sound without compromising on the look and feel of their home. Nice marketing spin but I still wonder if they’ll match up to the Pioneer Kuro TVs which are still my favourite large television range and still the benchmark that other tele sets are reviewed against.

Right hopefully cheap TV will get some news on some other manufacturers other than Sony releasing new ranges of televisions soon.
