This Weeks Celebrity Juice

If you don’t already know Celebrity Juice is a big favourite of the cheap televisions blogging team. So in honour of what we think is the funniest panel comedy TV show on at the moment here’s who will be appearing on this Thursdays episode on ITV2 with Keith Lemon.

Celebrity Juice ITV2

Along with the host Keith, the team captains Fearne Cotton and Holly Willoughby and panel regular Rufus Hound will be actress Patsy Kensit and comedian and actor Johnny Vegas. That still leaves one empty chair but I can’t find who it’ll be joining them on the internet or the ITV2 website, any ideas? I doubt it’ll be as funny as the naked old man episode that had me laughing so much, but it’s always a great TV show to cheer you up on a Thursday night.

Celebrity Juice is on ITV2 at 10pm on Thursday.

Amanda Holden on The Inbetweeners!

In case you don’t already know the Channel 4 comedy show The Inbetweeners is back on our televisions screens. And although not necessarily one of cheap televisions favourite TV shows it does apparently have an army of celebrity followers! One of them is apparently the best judge from TVs Britain’s Got Talent Amanda Holden who would like to have a guest spot in The Inbetweeners playing a posh sexy English teacher.

According to the Daily Star Inbetweeners actors Blake Harrison and Simon Bird said “And Amanda Holden told us she wants to play a sexy English teacher in the next series”. They went on to say that some famous footballers were also big fans of the show and also wanted to do guest appearances “Apparently, Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand want parts in the show,”. Boring why do footballers want to be in TV shows? Stick to what you are good at guys, kicking a dead piece of cow around for millions of pounds then spending it on delinquent large breasted ladies while your wife is at home lol.

The British Comedy Awards return to ITV for its 20th year. Jonathan Ross returns to host the TV awards on Saturday 12th December on ITV1 and ITV2. Cheap television loves a bit of comedy on the TV so is looking forward to seeing who this year’s winners and losers will be. Black Books TV Show Info

Black Books was a British television comedy shown on Channel 4 staring Dylan Moran, Bill Bailey and Tamsin Greig set in a independent book shop in London. Black Books is the name of the shop owned by drunken owner Bernard Black (played brilliantly by Dylan Moran) who is far more interested in alcohol, cigarettes and reading rather than selling anything. Bill Baily plays Manny Bianco and Tasmin Greig plays Fran Katzenjammer who spend many of the show episodes trying to get Bernard to participate in the wider world, something he has little enthusiasm to do (like his book selling skills).

Black Books

From what I can remember Black Books was very funny, especially compared to most of the rubbish passed off as “comedy” on television at that period. The humour was often surreal with things like mollusc’s and dead badgers depicting how dirty the shop was. It wasn’t a very long run show, as each series only had 6 episodes but the writing which was also done by Dylan Moran was top notch. Black Books was also popular with television critics winning a BAFTA for Best Situation Comedy in 2001 and 2005 as well as the Bronze Rose at the Festival Rode d’Or in 2001.

Although this isn’t a review by any stretch of the imagination (its just TV show info as you may have already guessed), but if you like dark, surreal and cleverly written British comedy you can’t go wrong with trying out the Black Books complete DVD box set which (looking today) is only around £16 from the likes of play.com and amazon.co.uk.

Lee Hurst Attacks Mock The Week.

Comedian and former panellist on the comedy sports TV show They Think Its All Over has hit out at Mock The Week and other television shows that apparently show the jokes and banter is improvised. He claims that producers have writers providing the comedians material, which to be fair most of us would have already suspected on TV shows like Mock The Week.

Lee Hurst said “Once you do that, you’re not a stand-up, you’re an actor. TV pursues comedians who have no morals whatsoever. They’ll steal, they’ll lie, they’ll stab you in the back.” I think he has some anger issues? He apparently also said the stars on Mock The Week don’t really like each other which could be a reason for Frankie Boyle leaving the show? Who knows! Or Maybe Lee Hurst wanted Frankie Boyles old job but got turned down?

Cheap Televisions favourite comedy team based quiz show (along with Have I Got News For You) has been commissioned to two more seasons on BBC2, however Mock The Week will be missing the rather hilarious Frankie Boyle who has quit the TV show. Apparently the reason is so he can spend time on other television commitments and those who watched the final episode of the current series of Mock The Week would have seen Frankie Boyle was missing (due to a mystery illness).

“Mock The Week is a major part of the BBC Two schedule, regularly delivering wit and energy to an enthusiastic audience. This two series commitment shows just how much we value it.” BBC Two controller Janice Hadlow was quoted as saying. They did not comment or hint at the question I now have of who will replace Frankie Boyle on Mock The Week?

The producers of Mock The Week also released a statement saying “Frankie has been a brilliant member of the team since the beginning and the door is always open for him to come back. We wish him all the best with his other projects.” Whatever Frankie Boyle is working on I’m sure both he and Mock The Week will continue to bring some smiles and laughter to viewers for some time to come.
