We’ve been hunting around and thought we’d tell you about two current Tesco TV deals on Sony Bravia HD LCD televisions.

The first of these TV deals at Tesco is the Sony KDL32 CX523 32 inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p LCD TV with Internet TV & Freeview HD. A full HD TV with a pretty good review score on Reevoo of 8.3 from 20 reviews for a reasonably cheap price of £399.99.

The second offer is for another, more expensive, 32 inch Sony television. The Sony KDL32 EX523 32 inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p LED TV with Freeview HD. Again another very good review score of 8.8 on Reevoo and in the Tesco sale for £549.00.

32 inch televisions were the most popular size not that long ago, but now customers want the biggest tele they can afford and the 32″ set has fallen out of favour. However these two Sony LCD screens shouldn’t be ignored as there Bravia series is always high quality. We especially like that they both come with built in Freeview HD too. Anyway we’ll bring you the best Tesco TV deals when we hear about them very soon.
<div

Today for the Christmas sales rush they are promoting this small sized 26 inch Panasonic TX-L26C10B LCD TV with built in Freeview at £50 off so now £299.97. A pretty cheap price especially when you consider how good the customer reviews for the Panasonic TX-L26C10B LCD TV at Tesco on reevoo are (9.4 out of 10).

Cheap Panasonic LCD TV Deal Tesco Televisions

Tesco aren’t exactly the best when it comes to explaining the features on any of the Tesco televisions they sell. The description for this Panasonic LCD TV deal only says “The Panasonic TX-L26C10B 26″ HD Ready LCD TV with built-in Freeview offers advanced picture and sound quality for home entertainment. You can also link other AV devices via Viera link with the use of one remote & playback for digital photos (JPEG ) by just inserting the SD card into the TV. The TV has a built-in Nicam sound system with 2 HDMI and 2 SCART connections.”

But anywho onto the reviews for the Panasonic TX-L26C10B LCD television sold by Tesco that I mentioned earlier. The 9.4 out of 10 score in the customer reviews for this cheap television come from around 30 people (not the normal 1 biased review). Below is one of the custome reviews which is actually the most negative I could find with 8 out of 10 but its the most balanced review of the Panasonic LCD television at Tesco in my humble opinion.

Good Points “Excelent value for money product. I bought it as a bedroom TV so did not need all the bells and whistles that came with a higher spec TV. One important aspect that had to be right was the sound quality as we had been very disappointed with Samsung model which had sounded very thin but this Panasonic is definitely good enough and has audio output anyway.”

Bad Points “Not that it is a problem with our set up because we view it face on but the quality of the picture is diminished when viewed from a shallow angle, a common issue with lesser spec LCD screens.”

If you buy one of these Panasonic TX-L26C10B LCD TVs from Tesco or any other online shop for that matter please let us know you opinions and reviews in the cheap televisions comments section below.
<div

Tesco does sell the major brands of LCD and Plasma TVs as one would expect along with some refurbished bargain televisions so here’s the full list of what Tesco offer.

Tesco Televisions

Technika

This appears the be Tescos home brand of televisions which is a bit annoying as cheap televisions can’t really track down much more information about who builds the panels. I’d expect they would be cheap and Chinese though. The Technika televisions for sale on Tesco are the Technika 40″ HD Ready 1080P LCD TV with Freeview 40-920, the Technika 32″ HD Ready LCD TV with built-in Freeview & DVD Player 32-310, the Technika 32″ HD Ready 1080p LCD TV with built-in Freeview 32-250, the Technika 32″ HD Ready LCD TV with built-in Freeview LCD32-209/209V, the Technika 26″ HD Ready LCD TV with built-in Freeview & DVD Player 26-310, the Technika 26″ HD Ready 1080P Slim LCD TV with Freeview 26-920, the Technika 22″ HD Ready LCD TV with built-in Freeview, DVD player & iPod Dock 22-218 and finally the Technika 19″ HD Ready LCD TV with USB Record built in DVD & Freeview 19-220.

Nordmende

Like Technika I’ve never heard of Nordmende televisions before looking on the Tesco electronics website but it appears this is a seperate television manufacturer altogether. Tesco only one Nordmende television Nordmende 32″ HD Ready LCD TV with built-in Freeview NU323LD. Looking at the Nordmende website it appears to be confused as to if the company is Irish or German (Bremen to be precise). The website states:

“NordMende is a range of high quality audio visual and white goods available in the island of Ireland. Owned by the KAL Group, the new NordMende brand was officially launched in their Dublin based headquarters in August 2008 and attended by Ireland’s Minister for Finance, Brian Lenihan. With the strap line Home Economics, the brand stands for well-designed, higher than average specification products at affordable prices. The NordMende name originates from Germany where NordMende was a manufacturer of entertainment electronics based in the city of Bremen. It is still recognised as a brand name associated with audio/visual products throughout the world but is perhaps now best known in Ireland thanks to the KAL Group.”

UMC

Again another odd sounding television company with no website that I can find and only one television in the Tesco store. It is a very cheap television but comes in the rather strange size of 23″. It is only £199 so a dirt cheap deal. Its called the UMC 23″ HD Ready 1080P LCD TV with built-in Freeview X23/39.

The rest of the televisions sold by Tesco are the usual LCD and plasma panel suspects really. LG, Panasonic, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Sony and Toshiba. Just be careful with the warrantys Tesco offer on their television as they are not free like the brilliant John Lewis 5 year ones and can add upto £350 onto your final bill. I know Tesco is normally cheaper than other supermarkets but when buying a television you may want to visit your local Waitrose / John Lewis just to duoble cheap you are getting the best deal.
<div

Please note the top 20 is made up from Amazons statistics so will not represent the whole market, you will also probably find these plasma televisions much cheaper on other online or high street stores. The top 20 plasma televisions does show a good trend for 42 inch televisions being the best selling and 50 inch plasma TVs becoming more popular with consumers. It also looks like people do believe that the quality of Panasonic is worth paying the extra money than the great affordable deals you can get on LG plasma televisions (this is more likely to do with warranty concerns than picture quality, the new LG has impressed me). All of these plasma televisions come with Freeview which is now becoming just another standard feature with all new televisions. The average price point is around £600 for a new plasma television which is great considering the quality, features and sizes of these flat panel TVs. One thing that seems to be even Stevens is if people choose to go with HD Ready or Full 1080p high Definition when buying. Don’t forget you can get much better deals on these plasma televisions than the prices quoted in this cheap televisions post.

The Sharp TU-R160H – a stylish, slimline silver and black deck with attractive blue function lights – is a welcome addition for any home wanting the benefits of multiple digital Freeview channels. The added convenience of an 8-day EPG (electronic programming guide), for easy planning and timer programming, means parents will no longer have to rely on the kids to set the timer. It also offers up to a generous 80 hours’ recording capacity.

Should the phone start ringing during a favourite TV show, the TU-R160H’s ingenious ‘Chasing Playback’ feature ensures that nothing is missed. The user simply pauses the live broadcast for a few minutes, and, once the phone call is over, can start watching the programme from where they left off. This is also known as time-shifting.

If the viewer wants to keep an eye on the football scores, or simply check when a programme being recorded is due to end, they can choose to switch on the TU-R160H’s handy ‘Picture In Picture’ (PIP) function. This allows them to view the second channel within a small display (without audio), while retaining the sound with the main picture.

Unlike some other DTRs, Sharp’s model also permits the user to record subtitles with their programmes – an important feature for the deaf or hard of hearing.

Uniquely, this model also runs more quietly than its competitors thanks to its clever internal design, which has eliminated the need for a cooling fan. Where most products can become noisier over time due to the build-up of grime and dust on the fan, this will never be a problem for the Sharp TU-R160H.

Ning Ning Cheang, recording media product manager, Sharp, said, “The majority of UK households have experienced the excellent channels available through Freeview, and now require more choice when it comes to viewing, playback and recording. With the Sharp TU-R160H, users are able to record terrestrial digital channels and timeshift their favourite programmes (record and play at the same time) – but they can also now watch one Freeview channel whilst recording another. Furthermore, we can offer the benefits of lower power consumption and positive features such as Subtitle Recording, making this a very desirable option for most families.”

TU-R160H key features:

* UHF Digital Twin Tuner
* 160GB hard drive (with up to 80 hour recording capacity)
* Easy to install and operate
* 8-day Electronic Programming Guide (EPG)
* Ability to record one digital channel while watching another digital channel
* Chasing playback / time-shifting
* Quiet operation
* Subtitle recording
* Picture in Picture function (PIP)
* Two scart connections (1 x RGB, 1 x SVHS), CVBS out, audio out, RS232
* Optical out

Retail availability

The Sharp TU-R160H will be available from the end of September 2006 in the UK from electrical retailers including Currys.Digital, Comet, John Lewis, Littlewoods Home Shopping, Argos, CWS and independent stores.

About Sharp Corporation

Founded in 1912, Sharp Electronics is a leading developer and manufacturer of electronic equipment, appliances and components for the consumer and business markets, with a key focus on LCD TVs, solar systems and copier/printer solutions.
