Prince Harry On Top Gear

Apparently royal rebel Prince Harry has agreed to appear on the next series of the popular car TV show Top Gear. Prince Harry is apparently a fan of Top Gear and will take a spin in the reasonably priced car and attempt to get the fastest lap. Obviously he’ll have a chat with Jeremy Clarkson but according to reports will bring some soldiers along to help raise awareness for the armed forces.

Someone called “Source” apparently told the Sun newspaper “The prince is a massive Top Gear fan and is dying to give the Kia a spin. He loves driving and ideally he’d like to beat Tom Cruise just for the boasting rights.” They also added about Prince Harry bringing some troops on the Top Gear TV show with him “He doesn’t want it to be all about him. He wants to raise awareness of the Armed Forces.”

The royal family seem not to be able to stay out of the media spotlight at the moment which is pretty boring, but another series of Top Gear on our TV screen in all its HD glory is never a bad thing.

Top Gear Returns To Television.

It seems like it been ages but one of the best shows on television finally returns with more burning tyre smoke, funny humour and controversial remarks by Jeremy Clarkson on Sunday as Top Gear returns. Its on at a slightly later time than the previous series of Top Gear starting at 9pm on BBC Two but I for one can not wait to see Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, James May and The Stig (although the cheap Stig branded Christmas presents are getting annoying) back on our TV screens.

Top Gear Ferrari California

The first episode we will see Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May take an Aston DBS Volante, a Ferrari California and a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder to Romania to find what has been described as the greatest road in the world. James May testing the BMW 760i and Mercades S63 AMG (should be an interesting review with captain slow behind the wheel of two powerful cars). And the star in a reasonably priced car is Eric Bana (star of Star Trek, Troy and The Hulk. I’m all excited as you maybe able to tell, but please forgive me as this is by far cheap televisions favourite television show.

Yes I know this is cheap tvs and the LCD and plasma televisions seem to have been replaced with cars recently but Top Gear is back on our television screens this Sunday . British GP and then Top Gear this is looking to be a good TV day for the boys (and girls). The first episode in what is the 13th series of Top Gear will feature one of the trademark races from London to Edinburgh, but with vehicles from 60 years ago.

James May will be using a classic Jaguar XK120 sports car, Richard Hammond carries on from the last series of Top Gear on a motorbike. Specifically a Vincent Black Shadow. And fat boy Jeremy Clarkson is taking a train! Yes apparently its true Jeremy will be taking the recently rebuilt Tornado steam train as his weapon of choice.

The BBC Top Gear website says about the first episode in the new series “The challenge behind this race was simple – the first one to get from London to Edinburgh would be the winner – but what happens along the way adds up to one of Top Gear’s most incredible and most epic races to date.” We shall wait and see when Top Gear returns to our tvs at 8pm on Sunday.

Lewis Hamilton to appear on Top Gear

Yes England’s latest sports superstar Lewis Hamilton is to appear alongside Jeremy Clarkson on televisions superstar Top Gear. The formula one rookie who stunned many this year revealed he would appear on Top Gear the best motoring TV show in the world (probably) at the National TV Awards on Wednesday. Lewis Hamilton’s announcement to appear on Top Gear follows on from last weeks news that the 22 year old would be appearing on Parkinson.Lewis Hamilton will appear on the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car section of the show and after being interviewed by the balding Jeremy Clarkson will get to have a shot at the lap record around the Top Gear test track. Lewis Hamilton presented Jeremy Clarkson with a Special Recognition Award where he said “Growing up, Top Gear was always one of my favourite shows. I share the same passions as Jeremy – fast cars, their speed and grace. He always makes me laugh.”.

No doubt Lewis Hamilton has some taste in television shows then. Top Gears Jeremy Clarkson said “We’re looking forward to having you down [on the show] in a couple of weeks even though your boss said you can’t drive anything that’s not a Mercedes. We’ll sort it out.”

Lewis Hamilton has another reason to be a happy bunny today after Fernando Alonso left his Mclaren team.

Top Gear in Africa

This Sunday the Top Gear presenters head out to Africa in what looks like one of the best Top Gear challenges ever. Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May have to take second hand cars costing no more than £1,500 on a desert safari in Africa and just for fun the Top Gear producers have decided they are not allowed any 4×4 vehicles lol. No doubt they will come across some of the most fearsome creatures known to man, including the rare but deadly African Stig who will no doubt trash whatever cars the Top Gear boys decide to take on the challenge to Africa.

The BBC Top Gear website describes the Africa challenge better than I can “In their most gruelling challenge to date, our three intrepid presenters each have to buy a second-hand car costing no more than £1,500. Crucially, they aren’t allowed 4x4s. This is probably a bit cruel on our part, because they then have to negotiate some of the most inhospitable terrain Botswana has to offer. Their route takes them across the vast Makgadikgadi salt pans, treacherous rivers and game reserves filled with animals, many of whom want to eat them. Along the way, they encounter blistering heat, choking dust and the Stig’s African cousin.”

After last Sundays Top Gear which had the hilarious section of Jeremy Clarkson driving the 1963 Peel P50 microcar which is apparently the worlds smallest production car though the BBC television centre I have high hopes that the Top Gear Africa challenge will be excellent. The last time Top Gear did a similar challenge to this was the American fly drive one last year which again was one of my favourite episodes. Though in Africa the Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are more likely to be eaten by a Lion than be shot at by a Red Neck whose dad and uncle are the same person. I also read that the producers of Top Gear got in trouble with some ecomentalists over this episode because they drove the cars on some old African dirt, sand or something ridiculous!

Top Gear in Africa is on BBC2 this coming Sunday at 8pm and repeated on Wednesdays, if you missed the funny little car being driven by Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear you can watch it tomorrow on BBC2 at 7pm. Its a shame the BBC don’t let us watch previous videos of Top Gear online (apart from the small poor quality video ‘clips’ on there site and youtube obviously).

Update 31/10/2007:
Rather than writing a totally new article I thought I might as well update the Top Gear in Africa post and let you know that Top Gear won the Most Popular Factual Television Show at the National TV Awards 2008 (don’t ask me why ts 2008 when its obviously not). Also Lewis Hamilton certainly was not the Stig in the African Top Gear either, use your common sense people there are more black racing drivers in the world than just the very talented Lewis Hamilton! Finally I have to say Top Gear in Africa was brilliant last night, Richard Hammons car called Oliver was certainly the star of the Top Gear Africa show for me (Oliver is a 1963 Opel Kadet for those who are wondering). Rock on next week.
